Just Cause and Mantra

Our Just Cause and Mantra

Weaved into our nation's fabric and steeped in American values, there are many stories of American dreams that, through our efforts as financial professionals, have come true and more that have yet to be fulfilled. That is our Just Cause.

____________________________________________________________________________

American Portfolios will support its investment professionals in helping their clients achieve their American Dreams.

Nurture

Each and every day we will cultivate a thriving workplace, investing in our team(s) so they may realize their personal and professional dreams, all while instilling in them the desire and an ability to help others reach theirs.

Launch

We will set our sights high above the fray, questioning “why” and answering “how” at every turn for the benefit of our financial advisors and their clients, to deliver a spectacular customer service experience.

Give

As corporate citizens, we will make it our purpose—both narrowly and broadly—to constantly improve the lives of others and ourselves because, in a world of infinite problems and possibilities, dreams realized beget new ones.

Aim

With an eye toward a sustainable future, we will recognize the capital interests of every AP stakeholder—employee, advisor, client, community and shareholder—creating long-term well-being and value for all.

From the Chairman

From the Chairman

I thank you for the opportunity to introduce our company to you.

A Message from Lon T. Dolber

American Portfolios was conceived by a group of like minded, independent financial service professionals, committed to serving their clients by offering sound financial guidance or planning along with solid investment advice. The firm is owned and operated by individuals who have all worked with clients of their own. I started in the financial services field in 1978 when I was brought into the business by my father Hy Dolber.

As professionals, we will not tolerate or recognize any obligation to market the services or investment products produced by any single company. We understand what it means to seek out and to offer only the best products or services available, without conflict or compromise and this is the same commitment we make to our representatives.

The financial services industry is dynamic and evolving. Barriers have fallen and investors face an almost unlimited and often confusing variety of financial products and investment choices. We believe that financial professionals must have access to a diverse selection of unbiased and high quality investment products and services in order to best meet their client’s objectives.

I thank you for the opportunity to introduce our company to you. We are proud of what has been accomplished thus far and hope that our vision someday may be of benefit to you.

-Lon T. Dolber

First Quarter 2022: American Portfolios Quarterly Market Commentary

THE FIRST QUARTER of 2022 was a wild one. Economic and market complications piled up to start the year, weighing on equity and fixed income prices. Equities were down double-digit percentages at its worst, but a late rally following the first Federal Reserve (the Fed) hike of the cycle allowed the S&P 500 to end […]

The Russia-Ukraine Conflict: Potential Outcomes and Impact – An American Portfolios Market Commentary

OUR THOUGHTS AND prayers are with all those impacted by the war in Ukraine. We join with our global, national, business and local communities in bringing hope for a swift and peaceful end to this conflict. When in crisis, hope is a universal human response that has its place and purpose, giving many—as we’ve witnessed—the […]

Fourth-Quarter 2021 American Portfolios Quarterly Market Commentary

THE FOURTH QUARTER financial market returns were surprising—but certainly not unwelcome—and capped off a strong year. The S&P led all major equity categories for the quarter yet again with a gain of 11% and finished the year up 28.7% (about 70% from the end of the first quarter of 2020). Large-cap stocks led the way […]

Third-Quarter 2021 American Portfolios Quarterly Market Commentary

AFTER SEVEN MONTHS of a seemingly relentless climb in prices, the equity markets slumped in September. The S&P 500 pulled back nearly 5%, slumping into month-end, while the Nasdaq was down more than 5%. This was the worst month of U.S. equity performance since March 2020. For the quarter, both indices were basically flat while […]

THE U.S. EQUITY markets had another strong showing in the second quarter of 2021 with the S&P 500 up 8.6%. Midcap returns were strong as well, up 7.5%, while Smallcap trailed in 2Q, but were still up 4% and 2%-plus ahead of the S&P 500 for the first half of the year. REITs and energy […]

First-Quarter 2021 American Portfolios Quarterly Market Commentary

WE EXPECTED 2021 to offer significantly more impact-producing events than average, driven by the reopening of the economy and new presidential and Senate leadership; so far, we have not been disappointed. Despite some downside volatility that arose in the back end of the quarter, the U.S. equity markets surged higher in the first quarter, fueled […]

Fourth-Quarter 2020 American Portfolios Quarterly Market Commentary

Fourth-Quarter 2020 American Portfolios Quarterly Market Commentary by Chief Investment Officer Clifford T. Walsh, CFA AFTER AN UNPRECEDENTED 2020, the upcoming year appears to offer a relatively tame outcome, but only because of how much last year deviated from the norm. THE ECONOMIC SWINGS that have taken place in the U.S. and globally during the past six months have been nothing short of mind blowing, with a U.S. GDP decline of 31.7 percent in the second quarter and an expected bounce back of at least 20 percent in the third quarter, and perhaps even topping 30 […]
